My pregnant daughter got her 1st ultrasound on August 25th. They were concerned about the size of the baby - only 191 grams. She is due January 17th.
I told her to be optimistic. I had IUGR with my 1st baby - was monitored 3x a week. Ended up having a full term, healthy boy of 5 lbs, 6 ozs.
Today she went for her fetal assessment. Baby gained 50 grams since ladt scan. Only 2 veins in the umbilical cord. At 21 weeks, 2 days, she is in the 1 percentile. All the babies arteries & organs look good. She is squirming & moving like crazy.
Yet they still gently asked my daughter if she wanted to terminate.
This early? With growth still happening? With our family history?
Is MAID being extended to unborn babies in Canada now? Shouldn't this little one be given a few more weeks to see how she grows before talking about terminating? Any obgyn's out there that can comment?"
