The Maritime Motorsports Hall of Fame Inc. - Celebrates Major Expansion

Petitcodiac, NB – The Grand Opening of the new expansion of the Maritime Motorsports Hall of Fame Inc. was held on September 19, 2025.

The new addition will dramatically expand the exhibit space, showcasing numerous vehicles, motorsport memorabilia, antique mechanical tools, and the rich history of the province’s motor vehicle industry.

This addition is possible because of generous donations and many hours of planning, persistence, paperwork and phone calls.

The idea for the building extension started when supporter Rick Wood generously donated money to an addition in honour of his late wife, Debbie Wood. With Rick’s passing, the addition will now honour both Rick and Debbie Wood. The museum section pays tribute to the Woods with the unveiling of a commemorative plaque, accompanied by a permanent exhibit highlighting Rick Wood’s lifelong contributions and his dedication to numerous organizations.

The Maritime Motorsports Hall of Fame & Museum gratefully acknowledges the support of the Government of Canada through the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), the Regional Development Corporation (RDC) in our project to support the advancement of tourism in the region.

The Honourable Sean Fraser, P.C., K.C., Member of Parliament for Central Nova, Minister of Justice and Attorney General and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency shared the following message for all who gathered for the occasion:

“The Maritime Motorsports Hall of Fame is a key tourism asset for Petitcodiac and surrounding communities, this expansion will enhance exhibit space, attract more visitors, and create new revenue opportunities, benefiting both the Hall of
Fame and local businesses. Our support to this project reflects the government of Canada’s commitment to strengthening tourism potential and driving economic growth across the region.”

ACOA contributed $78,099 towards the project while the Province of New Brunswick, through RDC provided $104,132.

“The Maritime Motorsports Hall of Fame is an important tourism asset for our province,” said Environment and Climate Change Minister Gilles LePage, who is also minister responsible for the Regional Development Corporation. “This expansion ensures that its unique collection can continue to grow, while providing a modern community space that supports local events, attracts visitors, and contributes to the regional economy."

The celebration brought together government officials, community leaders, donors, and supporters to mark the occasion with a tour of the new facility, and the unveiling of the donor plaque honoring those who made the project possible. There was the ribbon cutting by the dignitaries and the blessing by Pastor Gary Taylor, refreshments, live music by Johnny Comfort and lots of conversation.

Now with the new expansion open, we invite everyone to visit us and see our new look with many new exhibits and a beautiful mural by Fred Harrison.
