In December 2025, renowned historian and public intellectual Niall Ferguson was the featured guest at the Macdonald-Laurier Institute's Voices That Inspire speaker series in Vancouver. Ferguson’s landmark works—including "Civilization," "The Square and the Tower," and "Doom"—have cemented his reputation as a leading voice on the rise and fall of civilizations and the cycles of hubris and renewal that define the human story.
