Kevin Hall departs UVic here:
UVic president leaves for job outside Canada - Victoria Times Colonist
"The president of the University of Victoria is leaving the job for a top position at another institution, months after he was approved for another five-year term at UVic.
Kevin Hall’s departure from UVic was announced just after noon on Thursday, a day before his last day Aug. 1. "
"There was no forewarning of Hall’s departure — university staff and members of UVic’s senate received the news that he was leaving at the same time as the public.
During 2020-21, Hall was paid $207,697. In 2023-24, Hall’s total compensation was $526,989, with a base salary of $464,377. "
"Prior to UVic, Hall had a senior leadership position at Australia’s University of Newcastle and had stints at Queens University and University of Guelph.
"Born in Brighton, England, Hall was trained as a civil engineer and once represented Canada at the World Triathlon Championships."
A professor in UVic’s school of social work, Thomas, a member of Lyackson First Nation, has been in a senior Indigenous leadership role at UVic since 2021 and was the university’s first vice-president Indigenous — a role that had been created under Hall’s tenure."
