"Since Valentine’s Day 1999, Struts Gallery and the Owens Art Gallery have worked together to present The Sweetest Little Thing, a beloved annual fundraiser and community event. This February 14, 2026, marks the twenty-seventh year of SLT and it promises to be a very special evening featuring both old favorites, like the Instant Lovin’ Photobooth, and some newer fun, like karaoke and Pie vs. Pie! An exhibition of donated artworks will be on view at the Owens Art Gallery from February 7-14, 2026. As usual, all funds raised go directly to supporting ongoing programs at both Struts and the Owens, including artist residencies, community outreach, and art education programs.

Emma was a Fine Arts student at Mount Allison University and she had an exhibit at Struts Gallery on display during the Federal election timeframe of October 2015 which I toured with candidate Ann Bastarache [Conservative] on her visit to town.. the gallery curator Amanda [ here: Amanda Fauteux | Artists | collectionArtNB ] asked me not to photograph the Emma H. Perley artwork which had included an entire wall painted black and white in large letters "Am I next Mr. Harper?" referring to the "missing and murdered" native women in Canada.
Emma's art display also included a large Canadian flag with cut up pieces of "The Indian Act" glued all over it.. and this "political" art is probably what launched her "career" in the woke artworld of N.B.

I won't forget that on Twitter/X Owens Art Gallery blocked me.
This is another example of how this "COMMUNITY" is not supportive of locals who they see as having the wrong opinions and politics. That is a fact... I can attest to this reality in this small town.
So .. I have to ask... after fifteen years living and advocating in this small town is the "sweetest little thing" money ... or it is love?

Struts & Owens galleries call for more municipal investment in arts & culture |
Some commentary made on this article found here:
When a major US movie company came to Sackville last month, the mayor did nothing for us. He didn’t wish to honour two world-leading scientists for coming here and didn’t seem to comprehend that over 200 million viewers will be made aware of our town, so in turn, the movie company decided to omit the town’s name altogether from the film. That is what we are dealing with here."
Sorry we don’t need to spend even more taxpayer dollars on arts and weather vanes (what was CO2 emissions for shipping that to sackville lol)… it’s not a role for govt. this is not “investment” but it’s a nice political buzzword. why does everyone look to the nanny state to solve all their problems. Start a youtube channel and a Patreon page and get funding from patrons who love your artwork."
Thanks for the coverage Bruce. I will continue to advertise your site around town so that more people see your efforts to cover the stories specific to our “Tantramarshire” region of folks.
May the Struts and Owens people receive the money they need to keep things going."
Special Council Meeting on Youtube for the Town of Sackville that Bruce Wark is reporting on for ease of reference is linked below in this comment… maybe Bruce could add a button to this website to link to the Youtube Channel for the Town? Thanks again… the grant writing work is just one way to gather funds… I like Will Kriski’s idea of a Patreon account or some sort of independant fundraiser efforts – helps to think outside the box. Shelly Chase at The Levee on the Lake really does seem to have a lot of good ideas to get things done around here and to be honest I always enjoy hearing from her – she is extremely bright – at the Town Hall presentations."
