The male voice-over says the year was “1961″, but the year was not 1961, it was 1960, confirmed by other biographers and sources on Trudeau. The canoe escapade began off the Florida keys the last couple of days of April and ended after the first couple of days of May 1960. What is crucial in this clip, from video memoirs supervised by Trudeau himself, is the admission that Trudeau "encountered" Castro on that canoe trip, contrary to allegations the canoe trip to Cuba had failed. And contrary to biographers and historians who claim Trudeau first met Castro in 1976 on a state visit to Cuba while he was prime minister of Canada. The 1960 canoe trip and the admission that Pierre Trudeau "encountered" Castro "at the time" puts Pierre Trudeau in personal contact with Fidel Castro the year after Castro's visit to Montreal where he connected with Belgian revolutionary Georges Schoeters, who recruited terrorists in Montreal to be trained by Castro. In 1960, when Trudeau "encountered" Castro, Castro was already training the terrorists who would "explode" onto the Montreal scene in early 1963 after something called "The Donald Gordon Incident" was used to generate an excuse to pretend that Quebec wanted out of Confederation. It was communists in the street, then, too, burning Gordon in effigy and leading riots and near-riots. It was a communist mobilization of the non-communist population to destroy their own country. Moreover, it was Pierre Trudeau himself, a few months before The Gordon Incident was staged live, who actually wrote the first script for it in his pro-Soviet review, CITE LIBRE (Free City). It was then pulled off by all his communist friends, two of whom were editors in chief of the two big French dailies that "reported" on and helped to stage and escalate the affair.
