Upper Clements Park opened in 1989 thanks to millions from the Nova Scotia government at the time. But after its first year, the amusement park was already struggling. As the province continued to pour money into the park, many people were upset and stopped visiting in protest. The CBC's Linda Sims reported in October 1990 that the park was becoming a political and financial burden for the province. The park closed permanently in 2019.
