Fourteen New Brunswick lawyers appointed King’s counsel

Fourteen New Brunswick lawyers have been appointed King’s counsel, an honorary designation reserved for lawyers with the highest integrity who have demonstrated outstanding practice and commitment to their profession and community.

Lt.-Gov. Louise Imbeault announced the appointments on Tuesday.

Appointees

The King’s counsel appointees are:

  • Diane Audet, Fredericton
  • Elena Bosi, Fredericton
  • Emmy Chiasson, Moncton
  • Glen Gallant, Fredericton
  • David Gauthier, Saint John
  • Jean-Marc Gauvin, Shippagan
  • Peter MacPhail, Saint John
  • Sacha Morisset, Moncton
  • Leanne Murray, Fredericton
  • Trisha Perry, Saint John
  • Mathieu Picard, Moncton
  • Céline Robichaud Fournier, Dieppe
  • Jean-Guy Savoie, Miramichi
  • Stéphane Viola, Moncton

Requirements

Appointees must be members of the Law Society of New Brunswick and have at least 15 years of experience in the practice of law.

J.C. Marc Richard, chief justice of New Brunswick, chairs the committee that makes recommendations to the lieutenant-governor. Other committee members are the attorney general and the president of the Law Society of New Brunswick.

The swearing-in will take place on Dec. 15 at 3 p.m. at the legislative assembly in Fredericton.
