Richmond Mayor Malcolm Brodie said he's worried the Cowichan Tribes court ruling recognizing their Aboriginal title to some land in the city could lower property value or impact ownership in the area. He told CBC's Stephen Quinn he will speak with impacted property owners at an upcoming public information session.
Correction: A previous version of this video incorrectly stated that the B.C. Supreme Court decision covers 7.5 square kilometres of land in Richmond, B.C. In fact, the ruling applies to a portion of that area, meaning Quw’utsun Nation has Aboriginal title to between 300 and 324 hectares (or 750 and 800 acres) of land.
