MY MESSAGE TO ALBERTANS:
You are right to be angry. For decades, Ottawa has treated your province not as an equal partner in Confederation, but as a subordinate and an ATM machine, using the unfair equalization formula to take your wealth.
You have sent over billions of dollars through equalization and have never received a penny back in 61 years. Five years ago, in October 2021, you voted 62% in a referendum to stop that wealth drain.
Nobody is listening to you. Not the Liberals. Not the fake Conservatives, who in fact, take your vote for granted.
You're right to be enraged when the establishment politicians in Ottawa leech off your wealth, then, turn around and impose rules to block you from exploiting your own natural resources and building pipelines. They strangle your economy and kill your jobs.
They want your money but deny you the means to earn more of it.
You're right to be furious when Ottawa violates the Constitution, creating national programs like pharmacare, dental care, and daycare in areas that are exclusively under provincial jurisdiction, only to buy votes in Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes.
Enough is enough! On January 3rd, a petition for a referendum on Alberta's independence was launched.
This is not a fringe idea. It’s a legitimate and powerful tool born from decades of disrespect.
It’s the direct result of what I call "Imperial Federalism", where an imperial government in Ottawa views Alberta as a colony and thinks it knows what's best for your province.
I understand the anger. I share the frustration. And I say this clearly: you have every right to pursue that petition.
I’m telling you: your anger is not only justified, it’s your most powerful weapon.
The People's Party of Canada stands with Albertans who are fed up.
While we believe in a united Canada, we know that unity cannot be forced through coercion and constitutional overreach. True unity requires respect for our constitution.
That is why our policy is clear: we will support the YES side in any Alberta or Quebec independence referendum. Not because we desire separation, but because we must break the arrogance of the Liberals in Ottawa and the support of the fake Conservatives for the status quo, in order to force a real conversation about what this country should be.
But to get there, Ottawa must listen. And history shows that Ottawa will be more willing to listen in the face of a credible democratic threat to its authority.
So, to every Albertan feeling ignored: Sign that petition. Make your voice impossible to dismiss. Force the issue. Demand your right to a referendum.
Use the democratic power you have to tell the Liberals and fake Conservatives that the status quo is unacceptable.
This is your moment. Do not let anyone tell you to be quiet or to wait your turn. The time for polite requests is over. The time for decisive action is now.
But, let's be clear: Ottawa doesn’t listen to reason. It doesn’t listen to polite demands. It only listens to power.
So, use your power. SIGN THE PETITION. Make your anger count. Make it impossible to ignore. Show them that the days of their Imperial Federalism are numbered."
