Ami McKay's novel The Birth House being adapted for TV

"The Birth House is the story of Dora Rare, the first daughter to be born in five generations of Rares. As a child in an isolated village in Nova Scotia, she is drawn to Miss Babineau, an outspoken Acadian midwife with a gift for healing. Dora becomes Miss B.'s apprentice, and together they help the women of Scots Bay through infertility, difficult labours, breech births, unwanted pregnancies and even unfulfilling sex lives. Filled with details as compelling as they are surprising, The Birth House is an unforgettable tale of the struggles women have faced to have control of their own bodies and to keep the best parts of tradition alive in the modern world of medicine. (From Knopf Canada)
The Birth House was championed by Debbie Travis during Canada Reads 2011."

Some happy campers in the bay..

Old cottage by the bay surrounded with rose bushes...

Well.. who doesn't dream of having a sweet little cottage by the sea?

For some its a dream come true... "Cottage by the Sea" sounds like a good name for a blog....
some more photography in Nova Scotia's Scotts Bay found here:  love this life blogger ..

Ami's book was recommended to me by a friend in B.C. who had heard of the book and suggested it to me [he was originally from Nova Scotia himself] .. so I purchased Ami's book in the summer of 2007 and read it.. and enjoyed it.. and then gave it away to a friend of family that was visiting Scott Bay... at one point I had hoped to meet Ami and get her to sign my book [things that never happened though...].. expectations are one thing; reality is another.

CBC had published an article about the book being adapted for TV back in 2019.. is there any news on that happening yet?  Ami McKay's novel The Birth House being adapted for TV

CBC has given a lot of coverage to Ami McKay as it turns out.. having boosters sure helps a lot.
