"Oct 28, 2025

MAKER MAKER is a series of seriously small after hours art workshops at the Owens Art Gallery. This short video profiles Maker Mentor John Haney. MAKER MAKER focuses on pocket-sized art projects that can be made in two hours or less. John Haney is a multidisciplinary artist who lives in an old farmhouse in Wood Point, New Brunswick. He earned a BA from Mount Allison University in 2001, and an MFA from the University of Guelph in 2016. He has exhibited in Canada, the US, and Germany. He was long-listed for the Sobey Award in 2011, and was a nominee for the Scotiabank Photography Award in 2012. In 2019, in order to make a home for art in the fields, forests, and shorelines that surround him, he launched Wood Point Art Projects with the multi-artist presentation titled The Ark. 2023"

{I should note that Owens Art Gallery blocked me on X.. they really have blacklisted THE Indie Media Eastcoast in this small eastcoast university town in New Brunswick..  and its becoming laughable to be honest}

I've wondered why some artists are boosted and in the news and most others are just completely overlooked.. then again.. its really obvious why if you know what to do look for.  Certain talking points they will put forth, acceptable narratives, and 'herd mentality' do come to mind... the old 'go along to get along' idea.

The world of "funded artists" is a VERY cliquey space in Canada.. and if you're a follower you are easy to join up and include in their club, they will love you up .. if you're not.. you will def. know it.

Guess which camp I am in?

Woodpecker is one of those as a business doing tree removal in the region its also a "climate change hysterics" club:  Meet John Haney - Woodpecker Tree Care Ltd.

Wood Point is just south of Sackville New Brunswick.. its a sparsely populated part of the region but its by the water so its a desirable place to live.. I imagine one day more people will discover this part of Canada and it will begin to fill up with more homes and families.. at least I hope that's what happens in the future.. more rural living folks; not less.  Our universities aren't doing us a favour when it comes to spreading the word about the United Nations Agenda 2030.. pity.

#DefundUniversities

My local memes go over like a wet fart with the "in crowd" who don't mind the United Nations in their business .. heck.. they even fly the U.N. flag in town.  #UNexit
