"Wildcats ready to welcome fans to Saturday Night Home Opener
After opening the season on the road, the Moncton Wildcats are set to return home as they host the Charlottetown Islanders in their 2026-27 Home Opener Saturday night at the Avenir Centre. Puck drop is scheduled for 7pm, but the excitement begins long before the opening faceoff.
The Wildcats organization will pay tribute to the late Robert K. Irving. A special pre-game ceremony will honour a legacy that extends far beyond the rink and has touched generations throughout New Brunswick and Atlantic Canada. Fans in attendance will have the opportunity to join the Wildcats, Irving family, alumni, staff, and members of the community in recognizing an individual whose impact continues to be felt across the region.
On the ice, the Cats looks to build on some early season momentum after taking the first two games of opening weekend, and are eager to skate in front of an energized crowd of Moncton faithful at the Avenir Centre. Charlottetown comes into the Den looking to punch back after losing 4-3 to the Cats in their home opener back on Friday, September 18. With both teams hoping to gain an early edge in the standings, fans can expect nothing less than a fast-paced and physical contest between the two teams.
