Leif Garrett Breaks Silence on Addiction, Fame & Rock Bottom | Oz Celebrity
Leif Garrett, a former teen idol, shares his tumultuous journey from global superstardom to self-destruction due to addiction. Lacking parental supervision, he was exposed to drugs and alcohol at a young age, culminating in a devastating 1979 car crash, while high on quaaludes, that left his friend a paraplegic. Garrett's life continued to spiral, hitting rock bottom after an addiction to black tar heroin led to multiple arrests and a three-month jail stint.
He emphasizes the profound impact of losing his freedom as a turning point, offering a candid perspective on recovery and stressing that sobriety truly begins when an individual genuinely desires to quit.
